Rue Khosa, AKA The Boob Boss, is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She's also the founder and owner of The Perfect Push.
Rue was born and raised in sub-saharan Africa, in the small country of Zimbabwe. Family plays a critical role when a baby is brought into the world. In the Shona culture, an older female family member moves into the home of an expectant family shortly before birth, helping mom prepare both emotionally and physically. They call it "kugarira."
The extended family member remains with the family for up to six months after the baby is born, to support and guide the parents in caring for the baby, and help the new mother recover - mind, body, and soul. Rue created The Perfect Push to bring that experience to Seattle.
Rue began her women’s health career 10 years ago, as a labor and delivery nurse at Washington Hospital Centre in DC. She received her graduate degree from Georgetown University, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Prior to founding The Perfect Push, Rue worked as a nurse practitioner in Urgent Care for the University of Washington Physicians. She was also a Teaching Associate in the Department of Family Medicine at the UW School of Medicine, and an Adjunct Clinical Faculty at Northwest University Buntain School of Nursing.
Since 2015, Rue has worked with the La Leche League of Washington, to organize Live, Love, Latch events celebrating Black Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month. She is the founder of the Northwest Family Fest, an annual family-focused festival event in the heart of Redmond, WA. The event is a celebration and enables local businesses to showcase their family-friendly, family-focused products and services.
Outside of redefining the childbirth and parenting experience, Rue is a mother of three young boys. She and her family live in Dallas, TX.
