Rue Khosa is the owner and founder of The Perfect Push. She was born and raised in sub-saharan Africa in the small country of Zimbabwe, where family plays a critical role when a baby is brought into the world. In the Shona culture, an older female family member moves into the home of expectant family shortly before birth, helping mom prepare both emotionally and physically. They call it “kugarira.”
The extended family member remains with the family for up to six months after the baby is born, supporting and guiding the parents in caring for the baby. It helps new mothers recover – mind, body, and soul. Rue created The Perfect Push to bring that experience to America.
